What is Podslinger?
PodSlinger is a free-to-use website that allows you to find, listen to, and subscribe to podcasts. It is designed to be as simple and easy to use as possible.

How is Podslinger different?
First, other podcast software requires you to download programs to your computer. PodSlinger is entirely web-based, so there is nothing to install. Second, since it's web-based you can use PodSlinger from any computer with an internet connection and it will remember all of your settings and downloads. I actually created PodSlinger after losing my entire podcast history when I bought a new computer.
What is a podcast?
A podcast is a collection of audio or video files provided by a publisher that wishes to share this type of content. Some podcasts are like talk shows, some are like radio programs, and some just contain music. There are quite a few different types of podcasts available, feel free to browse our collection.

Have a suggestion?
If you have any ideas for how I can improve this site, just let me know! I can't promise to impliment every suggestion, but I do promise all suggestions will be considered.

Brad's Updates - What's new with Podslinger?

2011-04-21
I'm working on a rewrite of the technology behind the site that should allow for a much larger capacity in terms of podcasts I'm able to list and distribute. After that I plan on implementing a rating system.

I've finished the RSS feed. You can now use a program like Juice to download the podcasts you subscribe to. This way you can manage your subscriptions online and still have the convenience of a podcast receiver program. I will add instructions on how to do this with Juice soon.

You can now unsubscribe from podcasts. I also made the script that gets new episodes much faster, so new episodes will show up more often now. I also made some minor visual changes to the "listen" page, and added a link back to the podcast page. This should make it easier to manage your subscriptions. I'm still working on the RSS feed.

Per user request I've added the podcast Dave Alan "Outside of the Box".

Did some cleanup of the data, and I am adding more podcasts to the library. The next piece of functionality I want to add is an RSS feed of a user's subscribed podcasts. This will allow you to use podslinger to manage your subscriptions, but use a client like Juice to download them.

All of the basic functionality of the site is now complete. You can subscribe and listen to any podcast in the system, and only podcasts that are subscribed to will get episode updates. There are still some features I've yet to code, but nothing that will prevent the site from being usable. The next thing I will add is unsubscribe, so you'll be able to get rid of any podcasts you don't like on your subscription list. It shouldn't take long.

The change mentioned in my previous entry is complete. I also added paging to the "browse" page. I'm now working on search functionality.

Okay, new idea. I'm changing this thing so it only updates podcasts that are visited or subscribed to. The non-technical summary of the result is "it be faster." This feature should be implemented soon.

2010-04-30
I did some optimization of the listen to podcasts page, it's working much faster now.

2010-04-15
I am in the process of adding a whole bunch of podcasts to the system. After that is done I'll work on a better system to browse/search the podcasts. So far we have nearly 6500 podcasts and 56,000 episodes in the system, with many more to come! I'm pretty happy with the amount of content this site will be able to provide.
